2 Bangladeshi nationals killed, 11 injured after projectile falls on residential area in Al-Kharj

RIYADH: The Saudi Civil Defense on Monday said that two people of Bangladeshi nationality were killed and 12 others were injured after a projectile fell on a residential area in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Kharj governorate.

The military projectile fell on a site belonging to a maintenance and cleaning company in Al-Kharj on Sunday evening, causing material damage.

Earlier, it had been reported that the two deceased were Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, while the dozen injured were all Bangladeshi.

“Following up on the initial statement regarding the direct fall of a military projectile on a residential site in Al-Kharj Governorate, and after completing all final procedures, it has been determined that the two fatalities are of Bangladeshi nationality, (11) injured persons of Bangladeshi nationality, and (1) injured person of Indian nationality,” the Civil Defense posted on X.

Reposting the Saudi Civil Defense update, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said: “It is a matter of relief that there has been no Indian fatality in the unfortunate incident at Al Kharj on Sunday evening.

“The Embassy has been in touch with the concerned Saudi authorities regarding this issue. An embassy official visited Al Kharj last night and met the injured Indian national involved in this unfortunate incident. He is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital in Al Kharj,” the embassy wrote on Monday.

Video footage posted by the Ministry of Defense on X on Sunday showed some of the enemy drones being neutralized.

In these areas commerce intertwines with handicraft displays and storytelling, creating a cultural experience that reflects the place’s unique character and rich historical memory.
