Palm oases are among the most prominent agricultural features of AlUla, a governorate known for its date production for centuries. The date palm has long been central to the lives of its residents, providing food and income, and shaping the natural landscape of the oases surrounded by mountains and rock formations.
Annual production reaches about 168.31 tonnes of dates. The Barni date is among the most notable varieties produced in the governorate, along with several other types.
Palm farms play a key role in local economic activity. Dates are marketed across the Kingdom and exported to international destinations.
The quality and diversity of AlUla’s dates strengthen their competitiveness in regional and global markets.
