5,200 staff trained in wheelchair services at Makkah’s Grand Mosque

JEDDAH: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has completed the first phase of a program to train Grand Mosque workers in wheelchair assistance during Ramadan.

The Daifi (My Guest) program is part of the authority’s efforts to enhance service quality for worshippers and improve field performance efficiency at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Saudi Press Agency reported recently.

It aims to develop modern operational models that improve the worshipper experience, raise safety standards, reduce risks, and support crowd management during peak seasons.

The first phase included 49 training sessions over 12 days — 24 in the morning and 25 in the evening — benefiting 5,200 wheelchair service trainees, the SPA added.

The authority noted that the program focused on communication skills, professionalism, and discipline among wheelchair leaders, organizers, and field supervisors, balancing theory with practical application.

It added that the program represents a qualitative step in developing operational services at the Grand Mosque, reflecting its commitment to the spiritual experience and instilling values of compassion and excellence, as service is simultaneously a mission, an honor, and a responsibility.
