LONDON: The Syrian Ministry of Interior conducted a raid targeting a suspect’s hideout on Monday, seizing missiles and various weapons intended for smuggling out of the country.

The operation in the Al-Mayadin area of Deir Ezzor countryside, eastern Syria, was executed by the Internal Security Directorate in collaboration with the General Intelligence Service.

Forces arrested a wanted person and thwarted a plan to smuggle anti-tank guided missiles and anti-aircraft machine guns that were prepared for illegal transfer beyond Syrian territory.

The operation is part of efforts by Syrian security forces to combat arms smuggling and ensure national security and stability, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.
