RIYADH: An attempt to smuggle drugs through Al-Batha port has been foiled by Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
The authority said on Friday that its officials at the port seized 218,280 pills concealed in shipments, declared to be pots of paint, as they entered the Kingdom on trucks.
The type of pills was not immediately revealed.
The authority is responsible for carrying out customs inspections, enforcement of import and export regulations, and the prevention of attempts to bring prohibited or restricted items into the Kingdom, including narcotics, unlicensed medicines, and other goods that violate health, safety or commercial regulations.
