RIYADH: The Royal Saudi Naval Forces and the Royal Navy of Oman conducted live-fire missile and ammunition drills on Friday as part of the “Winds of Peace 2026” joint naval exercise, which began earlier this week in Oman.

Ten combat ships, a number of helicopters, and two platoons of Special Naval Security Units are taking part in the exercises.

Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Gharibi, the chief of staff of the Saudi forces, and Rear Adm. Saif Al-Rahbi, commander of Oman’s navy, attended the drills, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

They featured a series of advanced operational scenarios that simulated modern naval warfare, the protection of shipping lanes and the enhancement of maritime security, with the aim of supporting regional security and prosperity, the agency added.
