JEDDAH: The AlUla Manara team, in collaboration with specialists from the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, will conduct an interactive astronomical experiment on Monday.
The event is part of AlUla Manara’s educational programs aimed at promoting astronomical awareness and disseminating scientific knowledge through live observation sessions.
Supervised by specialists, the experiment will be carried out using advanced astronomical tools and techniques, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.
It will take place in AlUla governorate at 5:15 p.m., offering visitors an educational and engaging experience that enriches the area’s cultural and scientific landscape.
In December last year, the Royal Commission for AlUla announced that the Sharaan and Wadi Nakhlah reserves received official accreditation from DarkSky International, recognizing them as internationally designated Dark Sky Places and joining more than 250 protected sites worldwide.
The accreditation builds on AlUla’s 2024 achievement, when AlUla Manara and Al-Gharameel Nature Reserve became the first sites in the Kingdom and the Gulf region to receive Dark Sky Park status.
This latest recognition further strengthens AlUla’s position as a leading global destination for night-sky protection and astronomical tourism, the SPA reported.
Preserving dark skies aligns with the commission’s goals to protect and celebrate the region’s cultural and natural heritage, support wildlife conservation through a sustainable environment, and enhance stargazing experiences.
