RIYADH: The Saudi Elite Chefs competition began on Monday in Riyadh, showcasing culinary innovation and creativity.
Organized by the Culinary Arts Commission from Dec. 15–17 as part of the "Horeca” exhibition, the event features top Saudi professional chefs.
The competition is part of a national initiative to develop the culinary sector and empower local talent, according to a press release.
It aims to showcase the skills of Saudi chefs and promote Saudi cuisine locally and internationally, focusing on creativity, innovation, sustainability, and the use of local ingredients.
The event highlights the commission’s efforts to present the national food identity through modern, sustainable approaches that reduce food waste and align with global culinary trends.
The competition provides a professional platform for chefs to refine their skills, gain practical experience, and pursue competitive career paths.
Participants compete in one of two categories — Cuisine or Pastry — ensuring evaluation emphasizes specialization and artistic excellence.
Prizes include priority entry to the Bocuse d’Or and World Pastry Cup, official medals, personalized chef coats, access to prestigious culinary events, expanded professional networks, and participation certificates.
The competition supports the development of Saudi Arabia’s culinary arts ecosystem, cultural and creative industries, and national talent, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of building a sustainable creative economy.
