RIYADH: The eighth Joint Archeological Exhibition of the Arab Gulf States opened on Monday at the National Museum in Riyadh and runs until Dec. 30.
The exhibition traces the region’s history from the Stone Age and the discovery of metals in the third millennium B.C. to the pre-Islamic era and its pivotal role in the Islamic world, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Titled “Civilizational Unity and Cultural Diversity,” the event showcases artifacts including stone tools, pottery, inscriptions, art, architecture, and jewelry.
Daily programs and interactive activities using digital technologies offer visitors a modern educational experience that recreates historical scenes and deepens understanding of the Arabian Peninsula’s civilizational journey, according to a report.
Organized by the Heritage Commission in cooperation with the National Museum and the Museums Commission, and in strategic partnership with the Gulf Cooperation Council, the exhibition highlights the region’s cultural identity and supports joint Gulf initiatives.
Hosting the exhibition underscores the Kingdom’s role in promoting heritage and antiquities, in line with Vision 2030 goals, the SPA reported.
