RIYADH: The Saudi Export Development Authority held a trade mission to Syria on Dec. 1, with the participation of more than 65 national companies from the goods, services, and export and re-export house sectors.
The two-day mission in Damascus features representatives from several government entities, including the Ministry of Investment, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, and the Saudi Export-Import Bank.
On the Syrian side, its Ministry of Economy is also participating, along with several supporting entities, most notably the Saudi French Bank and Al Baraka Bank Syria.
This reflects Saudi Exports’ commitment to expanding trade opportunities for national companies by opening direct communication channels with regional markets and enabling exporters to build effective partnerships that support the growth of non-oil exports.
The Saudi-Syrian trade mission includes intensive bilateral business meetings between participating companies and their counterparts in the Syrian market.
It also seeks to explore opportunities for trade cooperation, identify market needs, and establish partnerships that will enable Saudi products and services to expand in the Syrian market, in line with the development of the national industry.
This mission is consistent with the growing pace of cooperation between the two countries.
Saudi Exports participated in the previous Damascus International Fair under the slogan “We are Alike,” alongside several government entities and more than 80 national companies from various sectors, with the aim of strengthening trade and investment relations.
These participations pave the way for a broader phase of joint work by enhancing direct communication between companies on both sides and leveraging this presence to build promising commercial and industrial partnerships that reflect the depth of the ties between the two countries.
Saudi Exports works to enable national companies to access regional and global markets through a package of programs and initiatives aimed at increasing the competitiveness of products from the Kingdom and raising the share of non-oil exports in the non-oil gross domestic product, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to build a diversified and sustainable economy.
