AlUla escape house brings history to life

  • The Ancient Kingdoms Festival takes the theme “Journeys Through Time”

ALULA: A way of introducing visitors to AlUla’s social and architectural history, the Old Town Escape House offers an interactive experience as part of the Ancient Kingdoms Festival.

Combining puzzle-solving with an exploration of stories that shaped daily life, the experience brings the mud-built Old Town to life.

Once home to over 900 houses, enclosed by walls that formed its defense system, visitors can learn about the social solidarity, community cooperation and other values shared by the town’s residents.

Designed in collaboration with residents, the experience reflects their role in preserving the Old Town’s heritage and transforming it into educational and cultural content, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

The Ancient Kingdoms Festival takes the theme “Journeys Through Time” and runs until Dec. 6. Held across various archeological sites in AlUla, it spans the Dadan, Lihyan and Nabataean civilizations and includes the modern era.

Celebrating more than 7,000 years of civilization, it includes immersive experiences, historical performances, interactive programs and educational tours.
