'Nature’s Greatest Story' unveiled: Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi opens doors

In an era where questions of our planet’s origins and future stir both scientific and public fascination, Abu Dhabi sets a bold new benchmark with the opening of the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi on Nov. 22. Anchored in the heart of Saadiyat Cultural District, this institution promises far more than a display of relics; it delivers “Nature’s Greatest Story,” inviting visitors to witness the extraordinary journey of our world, told through an Arab lens.
Spanning an impressive 35,000 square meters, NHMAD stands as the largest of its kind in the Middle East - an institution whose narrative sweep covers 13.8 billion years, from the cosmic flames of the Big Bang to the vibrant present and the choices that will define our future. It is a cultural and scientific jewel in Abu Dhabi’s crown, bridging traditions of discovery and community and setting the stage for conversation, curiosity, and wonder.
Unmissable upon entry is an awe-inspiring, nearly complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton. As one of only a handful of such specimens globally, it provides an up-close encounter with the apex predators that once dominated the Earth. Alongside, a magnificent 25-meter female blue whale skeleton - the largest animal known to science - offers visitors an upfront and personal view on the scale and mystery of life. Completing this remarkable trio is the Murchison Meteorite, a fragment from before the birth of the Solar System, anchoring the museum’s exploration of origins in interstellar history. Yet, it is the Arabian Peninsula’s own narrative that elevates the visitor journey here.
In permanent galleries such as The Story of Earth, The Evolving World, Our World, Resilient Planet, and Earth’s Future, visitors can immerse themselves in a world-class exploration of both the distant past and the future we can shape. Specialized spaces like The PalaeoLab and The Life Sciences Lab extend NHMAD’s mission, creating opportunities for research, hands-on learning, and dialogue that plant roots deep in the region’s unique setting.
Abu Dhabi’s natural heritage takes center stage, reflected in fossils discovered on its own soil. The ancient species Stegotetrabelodon emiratus - an elephant with both upper and lower tusks - invites reflection not just on ancient fauna, but on the evolutionary journey of a region that has always been a crossroads of nature and civilization. This is not simply a museum in Abu Dhabi - it is a museum of Abu Dhabi, making regional discoveries and stories part of a global narrative.
As much as the exhibits, the museum’s architecture inspires awe. Conceived by the renowned firm Mecanoo, the building’s design echoes jagged desert rocks and ancient formations, rooting the experience in the natural beauty of the Arabian landscape. Inside and out, the museum is a call to appreciate the world’s diversity - and to recognize the responsibilities that come with such appreciation.
The opening is marked by two world-class exhibitions, each a statement of intent. The March of the Triceratops, featuring the world’s only touring Triceratops herd, will capture the imaginations of both young and old. Complementing this, the 61st Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition immerses visitors in breathtaking vistas from across the planet, celebrating the links between art, science, and environmental stewardship.
From its inclusive access policy - free for children, people of determination, seniors, and affordable for families, students, and teachers - the museum signals its belief that "Nature’s Greatest Story" belongs to us all. Open daily from morning through evening, the space encourages repeat visits, educational group tours, and spontaneous exploration alike.
In joining Louvre Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena, and the soon-to-open Guggenheim and Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum positions the emirate amongst leading cultural capitals, offering a destination where dialogue between nature, culture, and innovation is ongoing and ever more urgent.
Here, under the Arabian sun, the story of life is not just preserved - it is alive, evolving, and openly shared with the world. As the doors open, Abu Dhabi steps confidently onto the global stage, offering a museum grounded in regional identity and universal curiosity.

25,000 attend Social Development Bank’s DeveGO25 forum

The Social Development Bank concluded the second edition of the Entrepreneurship and Modern Business Practices Forum — DeveGo 2025 — announcing the achievement of high-impact outcomes that further reinforced the forum’s position as the largest national platform in the region dedicated to entrepreneurship, innovation, and freelance work in Saudi Arabia and beyond.

The forum witnessed broad participation from local and international experts, investors, entrepreneurs, and representatives of local, regional, and international institutions.

Over three days at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, the forum drew 25,000 participants and visitors, who benefited from over 45 specialized workshops and over 2500 advisory sessions delivered by more than 70 consultants and experts.

The sessions covered key areas including entrepreneurial planning, business models, venture capital, digital platforms, freelancing, and emerging technologies.

The forum also featured 20 panel discussions with leading local and international speakers, addressing major global trends in entrepreneurship, including the future of artificial intelligence, the creative economy, digital transformation, and venture investment.

The forum saw the launch of the Saudi Empretec Fellowship, in the presence of Rebeca Grynspan, secretary-general of the UN Conference on Trade and Development.

The partners in success within the Social Responsibility Portfolio supporting entrepreneurs were honored.

It also saw the honoring of 13 winners of the Handicrafts Competition, representing various regions of the Kingdom, the announcement of winners of the Salam Award for Promising Projects, and the recognition of leading entrepreneurial projects fund under the Enterprises Track.

In addition, the NEXT UP Challenge concluded on the third day of the forum with 20 startups presenting their projects to more than 500 investors, enhancing opportunities for networking and partnership building.

As part of efforts to strengthen the support ecosystem, the forum witnessed the signing of 51 agreements, along with the launch of a suite of new financing products. These included the Capital Expansion Product with a ceiling of up to SR10 million, the Payroll Product with a ceiling of SR2 million, and the Rental Product with a ceiling of SR1.5 million, aimed at supporting enterprises in asset development and covering operational costs.

This reflects the bank’s direction toward offering more specialized financing tools that respond effectively to market needs.

The forum concluded by reaffirming its role as a unifying national platform for entrepreneurship, where accompanying activities and events provided direct engagement opportunities between entrepreneurs, investors, and experts.

The forum also highlighted success stories and practical experiences that reflect the scale of entrepreneurial momentum in the Kingdom and the growing role of the Social Development Bank in supporting a national economy driven by innovation and knowledge.
