CAIRO, 1 December 2004 — Mohamed Zaza, 25, dazzled audiences with his talent and good looks, after he made his television debut last Ramadan. He appeared in “Daughter of Afandina,” a serial starring Egyptian actress Ilham Shahin. It proved to be his lucky break, as it launched his acting career.
In an interview with Arab News Mohamed Zaza, he spoke about his role, his passion for acting, and his coming success. “I never thought of acting the role of a villain like the one I acted in (Daughter of Afandina),” Zaza said, “but I took the risk that people might end up hating me, just to be part of a big crew that participated in this production.” Zaza added that he wants to play different types of roles, such as romantic, action, comedy and more.
Zaza had his eyes fixed on cinema and acting since he was five and was, he said, not influenced by the fever for fame sweeping the Arab world.
Arab News asked Zaza if intelligence could ever win over talent? He answered, “I believe that God created us equal in different ways. One has to have a mixture of talent and intelligence along with other ingredients to achieve his goal. I haven’t got the chance to prove my talent yet, but hopefully my talent will be evident through my coming roles.”
Zaza wants to try both cinema and TV acting because he is keen on working with different and experienced artists to benefit from their experience. He added, “I hope I would be able to expand my horizons and do a lot of roles while also being selective. It is hard, but I’ll try!”
Commenting on his personal life Zaza said that he had been single for a while. “I fell in love two times before; each woman were different in looks, so I can never deny that appearance has a lot of influence on me. Though is a particular kind of girl attracts me. I like nice, easy going, sociable and active girls.”
Zaza said he would not change his name to an easier one because it is his family name.
Zaza is now shooting a new serial with a group of young actors, and evaluating two film scripts. He did not want to reveal details about them at the moment, but did say that they were co-starring roles.
