JEDDAH, 12 August 2003 — The International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ) witnessed a groundbreaking event when the three major contending groups signed a memorandum of agreement dubbed “New IPSJ Road Map to Peace” on Sunday at Ghornatah St. here.
The agreement was signed and confirmed by representatives from the major groups contending for the school’s Board of Trustees, notably Usman Islao for the Parents-Teachers Group, Fidel Hernandez for the Interim Board and C. Mapandi for the previous Board of Trustees.
The agreement, which was initiated through the efforts of the Philippine Consulate led by Vice Consul General Jose Jacob took more or less than an hour to complete ended ten months of administrative limbo of the largest Philippine overseas school.
The signatories agreed to hold the long delayed school board elections a month from Sunday’s date or on September 10, 2003. The positions and status of all the concerned groups were set aside as a prerequisite to the conduct of election.
