Hyundai has launched a new all-terrain 4WD vehicle, Terracan, that knows no boundaries. When the road ends, the car adventure begins, as I discovered during a desert trip on the Riyadh-Dammam highway. Moreover, at speeds of up to 80 km/h, Terracan switches between 2WD and 4WD effortlessly, while 4L is reserved for slow maneuvering down a hilly terrain.

As Mishary Al-Wallan, vice president of the Al-Wallan Group, Hyundai dealer for the Central Province, points out, “Terracan takes you anywhere on the map, in style and comfort. It blends the toughness of its exterior with the smoothness of its interior as befits a luxury car.”

Hyundai’s accent on advanced safety technology has found expression through the seatbelt safety mechanism which pulls in the three-point belts taut against the body within a split second. Belt force limiters ensure that the upper torso meets the airbag under as much control as possible, further reducing any possible injury risk in the event of an accident.

The vehicle’s long wheelbase, extra-wide track and low center of gravity endow it with a highly secure stance for optimal stability. And, most importantly, you ride on sophisticated four-wheel independent suspension that ensures the smoothest possible ride, no matter how far you wander off the beaten track.

One of the highlights of the 3.5-liter V6 in Terracan’s full-time 4WD system is its active torque transfer. This innovative system employs sophisticated electronic control to transfer power between the front and rear axles. Under normal conditions, power is directed to the rear but if rear wheel slippage is detected, it is redirected to the front axles. The V6 also features the multi-point fuel injection system and a digital engine management system.

The new offering from Hyundai has a spacious cabin that is tastefully finished in premium grade materials and appointed with amenity grade materials. Air conditioning, leather upholstery, wood grain dashboard and an eight-disc CD changer are just a few of the many options available.

On and off the road, Terracan is said to be Hyundai’s biggest and most powerful SUV yet. Rugged and refined, it comes with a well-equipped interior and a sophisticated four-wheel independent suspension that ensures the smoothest possible ride.

Thanks to its tall seats and an expansive glass area, Terracan offers an excellent view of the road ahead for safer, more confident driving. Rear seats come with a 60:40 split-folding feature to accommodate oversize cargo and can also be double-folded to maximize the cargo area.
