ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s finance minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday discussed his ministry’s continued engagement with Saudi Arabia, said an official statement, during a conversation with his country’s envoy to the kingdom Ameer Khurram Rathore.
The Pakistani diplomat held a meeting with Dar at the finance division in Islamabad in which the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries came up for discussion.
The interaction between the two Pakistani officials came weeks after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the kingdom to address the sixth edition of the Future Investment Forum.
“Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar stated that the Ministry of Finance will continue to engage itself in further strengthening brotherly and friendly ties between the two countries,” said the official statement issued by the ministry after the meeting.
The Pakistani diplomat said the prime minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia had further strengthened bilateral relations while appreciating the kingdom’s leadership for extending support to his country in different areas.
According to the foreign office of Pakistan, Sharif focused on further advancing economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries during his visit while seeking greater opportunities for Pakistani workforce in Saudi Arabia.
Apart from attending the high-profile “Davos in the Desert” forum, the prime minister also held a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his stay in the kingdom.
