ALKHOBAR, 18 January — In the EPCA League sponsored by Khalifa Al-Gosaibi Group YATA stun AGE and beat them by 60 runs.
YATA batted first and scored 262 runs Shahzad and Asim Baig scored fine century. Nadeem scored well made 43 runs and Mazhar contributed 26 runs. Abul Hassan and Dawood bowled well and took 2 wickets each.
In reply, AGE were all for 202 runs. Thanks to Naweed who bowled very well and removed the top 3 batsmen of AGE in quick intervals. All AGE batsmen through their wicket after settling down. Irfan was top scorer with 42 runs, Waheed scored 37 runs, Sikandar 27 runs, Imran 26 runs and Faraz chipped in with 23. Naeem , Ian and Nadeem bowled well and took 2 wickets each.
In another match, Youngsters crushed Saudi Ready Mix by 5 wickets. S.R. Mix batted first and were all out for 237 runs. Amir batted well and scored a fine knock of 61 runs. Zia scored useful 37 runs, Kausar 25 runs and Sunil scored 26 runs. Adnan bowled well and took 3 wickets and Abid and Ghafoor took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Youngsters reached the target in the 34th over. Thanks to Abdul Qayum who played the anchor role batted superbly and scored 81 runs. Mohsin scored 39 runs and Taqi contributed 24 runs. Sunil and Javed bowled well and took 2 wickets each.
In another match, Saudi Valve Manufacturing (SVM) outplayed SWCC and beat them by 9 wickets. SWCC batted first and were all out for 134 runs. Imran and Shahid scored 25 runs each. Faisal bowled well and took 3 wickets for 38 runs and David, Ashraf and Taqi Ali took 2 wickets each. In reply, SVM reached the target easily in the 12th over. Muhammad Ayub batted very well and scored unbeaten 69 runs with the help of 10 boundaries and took his team to a grand victory. David scored unbeaten 26 runs and Ashraf scored 34 runs.
In another match, Al-Ghamdi beat DHL by 9 wickets. DHL batted first and scored 113 runs. Joel was top scorer with 37 runs and George contributed 28 runs. Sadaqat bowled well and took 3 wickets for 31 runs. Babar captured 2 wickets.
Alghamdi reached the target very easily in just 9th over. This time Sadaqat showed his class with the bat. He played glorious strokes hit 6 boundaries and two mighty sixes. After his departure, Safdar took the charge and scored 45 runs in no time and took his team to an easy victory.
In another fine match, Kanoo beat Pak Arab by 109 runs. Kanoo batted first and scored 308 runs in their allotted 40 overs. Munawwar and Goga opened the innings for Kanoo. Goga lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs then Iqbal Bali joined Munawwar and the pair batted superbly both showed their class and both scored fine century. Munawwar particularly was in tremendous form. He scored 144 runs which included 9 hits to the fence and 3 towering sixes. Bali batted very sensibly scored 106 runs with the help of 6 boundaries.
Chasing a big total, Pak Arab could only manage to score 199 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 40 ovres. Shahzad batted well and scored fine half century. Imran scored 27 runs and Arshad contributed 23 runs. Majaz Qadri bowled very well and claimed 4 wickets for 38 runs and Eijaz Saeed took 2 wickets for 23 runs.
