JEDDAH, 31 May — The Bag-ong Bicol Saro nin Jeddah, one of the biggest and active ethnic Filipino groups in Jeddah has completed its election of a new set of officers who will serve until mid-2002.


Domingo “Dawood” Engay, an engineer, was elected president, succeeding accountant Evelyn Santos. 


Also elected were: Bernie Ramones, vice presisent; Rene Diaz, assistant vice president; Bernie Duka, secretary; Myra Valenciano, assistant secretary.


Liza Asetre, treasurer; Raul delos Reyes, assistant treasurer; Allen Sadiosa, auditor; Juhn Fortuna, assistant auditor; Billy Boni, business manager; Ben Figura, assistant business manager; Emma Dammang, PRO; Rino Osoc, assistant PRO; Job Frias, Sergeant-at-Arms; and Ver Rabino, Sergeant-at-Arms.


The new officers will serve a term of one year.


Leo Trijo, chief of the organization’s election committee, reported that last Friday’s election at the Philippine Consulate grounds, saw the biggest ever turnout in the Bicolano group’s history.


A fiesta-like atmosphere prevailed, with colorful banners of opposing candidates prominently displayed and campaign paraphernalia, t-shirts, caps, food and drinks distributed to all who came.
