ISLAMABAD: Senator Shaukat Tarin on Monday took oath as a federal minister at the President House in Islamabad, Pakistani state-run media reported.
Pakistani President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Tarin. The ceremony was attended by members of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet and senior officials.
Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain felicitated Tarin on taking oath as a federal minister.
“Shaukat Tarin’s efforts are commendable for stabilizing economy, poverty alleviation and promotion of construction industry in the country under the vision of the prime minister,” Hussain said in a statement.
He expressed confidence that Tarin would play a key role in economic progress of the country, saying the business community had expectations from him.
Tarin previously served as PM Khan’s aide on finance. He won a Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa earlier this month.
After taking oath as a federal minister, he is likely to get the portfolio of finance ministry back.
