Arab coalition destroys several drones launched towards southern Saudi Arabia from Yemen

  • Coalition says the drones were launched from Sanaa International Airport
  • The coalition also said it had launched airstrikes on legitimate military targets in Sanaa

JEDDAH: The Arab coalition said it had destroyed several drones that tried to target southwestern Saudi Arabia on Sunday, state TV reported.
The coalition said one drone that tried to target civilians at King Abdullah Airport in Jazan was destroyed, adding that it had taken off from Sanaa International Airport in Yemen.
The coalition also said that Saudi air defenses destroyed two Houthi drones that were launched toward Abha International Airport.

The coalition said that the Houthi militia also attempted to target the airport at dawn on Sunday with three drones that they claim were launched from Sanaa airport.

Saudi defenses also destroyed a drone that was launched towards Khamis Mushayt earlier on Sunday.

The Iran-backed Houthis had repeatedly launched missile and drone attacks toward Saudi Arabia since the Kingdom threw its support behind Yemen's UN-recognized government in 2015.

Later on Sunday, the coalition said it had launched airstrikes on "legitimate military targets" in Sanaa and called on civilians not to gather or approach targeted sites.
It added that "the operation in Sanaa was in line with international humanitarian law and its customary rule," Saudi state TV reported.

The UAE condemned the attacks and said they reflect the Houthis’ blatant defiance of the international community and their disregard for all international laws and norms.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated actions targeting vital and civil facilities, the security of the Kingdom, energy supplies and global economic stability.
Bahrain also issued a statement condemning the attacks and stressing support for Saudi Arabia in all measures and efforts it takes against threats targeting its security, stability, and the safety of its territories and citizens.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other Arab countries have organized a fighting force to help restore the Yemeni government, which was ousted by the Houthis in 2014.

Princess Reema’s Wave unveils ocean regeneration platform

  • Upgraded platform provides deeper, more comprehensive data on the state of the world’s oceans and the impact of human activity
  • Features an enhanced user experience, including an integrated tool powered by artificial intelligence

JEDDAH: Wave, powered by the Future Investment Initiative Institute and founded by Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, has unveiled version 2.0 of its Ocean Central data platform, oceancentral.org.

The upgraded platform provides deeper, more comprehensive data on the state of the world’s oceans and the impact of human activity.

It features an enhanced user experience, including an integrated tool powered by artificial intelligence, to guide users through queries and analysis. A new ocean news section also offers English-language summaries of the latest ocean-related developments and reports from around the world.

“The evolution of Ocean Central moves us a step closer to our collective goal of ‘Ocean Regeneration within a Human Generation’,” said Princess Reema.

“The future of our oceans depends on advances in accurate data, allocating resources more strategically and making informed decisions that protect marine environments, and Ocean Central plays an important role in enabling us to focus efforts.”

The enhanced platform will be on show at the 13th annual World Ocean Summit, organized by Economist Impact, which takes place in Montreal from March 4-5. The event brings together international government ministers, policymakers, investors and business leaders from sectors including shipping, energy and tourism.

The platform integrates global targets from the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement. It monitors progress towards these goals, highlights successful initiatives and identifies critical knowledge gaps.

Wave is a collective action platform dedicated to restoring a thriving ocean by 2050. Powered by the Future Investment Initiative Institute, it delivers targeted interventions across four pillars — engagement, insights, sectoral activation and innovation — to advance ocean regeneration.
