Pakistan's Sindh province signs six MoUs at investment conference in UAE

  • The MoUs were signed in the presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari

ISLAMABAD: The administration of Pakistan's southern Sindh province signed six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with various investors during a conference held in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, announced the media cell of the province's ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The Sindh Investment Conference, which was organized in Dubai, was attended by the top PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and the province's chief minister Murad Ali Shah.
The PPP media cell announced in a Twitter post the MoUs were signed in the presence of the UAE minister for culture, youth and social development Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and related to projects focusing on power generation and water desalination. 

 

 

In a statement issued by the Sindh administration later in the day, the PPP chairman said the two countries had always maintained deep and cordial relations with each other.
"Addressing the Sindh Investment Conference in Dubai, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked his Excellency Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak for being a consistent supporter of Pakistan and the province of Sindh," said the statement, adding: "Chairman PPP stated that Pakistanis and the people of the UAE had deep ties and growing up in UAE, he has watched the vision of the great leaders of UAE and how they transformed their country into the envy of the region."
The PPP chairman said the six MoUs would open a window of opportunity for those who wanted to invest in Sindh and Pakistan.
The provincial administration's statement also provided the details of the MoUs, saying that these included a project on setting up a water desalination plant in Karachi.
Other projects would focus on waste energy production for a greener Pakistan, startup funds for small and medium enterprises and promoting e-governance in the province.
