Who’s Who: Fahad Saad Al-Qathami, director of the media department at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties

Fahad Saad Al-Qathami has worked as director of the media department at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties since July 2019. He has also served as the spokesperson for the commission since June 2018.
Al-Qathami believes that corporate communication is an organized strategic process aiming to influence the public in a positive way, instill values in people and raise the level of public participation and interaction with organizations.
Before joining the commission, Al-Qathami worked for Al-Riyadh newspaper in the local news department, and also served a number of editorial roles in the Saudi press as he gained considerable experience in journalism.
He launched his journalism career working for a number of magazines in 2000 after which he gradually served as a reporter for Al-Youm newspaper in 2003. He became an editor at Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper in 2007 and continued working in the journalism sector until 2013.
During his career, Al-Qathami worked for Saudi TV intermittently between 2004 and 2005, and as a freelancer with a number of local and Gulf radio stations, which added to his expertise in the field.
Al-Qathami was previously named editor-in-chief of the online newspapers Kingdom News and Al-Manateq.
He was appointed as head of the Media Center for the Innovation Exhibition.
Al-Qathami has completed several training courses in journalistic editing and has taken part in a number of national dialogue forums.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations from King Abdulaziz University.

Archaeologists discover Abbasid coin in Al-Ahsa

RIYADH: The Heritage Commission has concluded its second archaeological season at Ra’s Qurayyah Port in Al-Ahsa governorate, Eastern Province, uncovering 147 diverse architectural units, including large courtyards and ancient wells.

Located 26 km northwest of Al-Uqair Port, the site yielded significant artifacts, including an Abbasid dirham minted in 765 AD, bronze ornaments and glazed pottery, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Comparative analysis and organic sampling indicate the site’s timeline spans from the pre-Islamic era through the early Islamic period and into the late-10th century.

The discovery aligns with the national cultural strategy to document the Kingdom’s tangible heritage and strengthen its scientific and historical presence globally.
