Ramy Youssef jokes about losing an Emmy in 2020

DUBAI: US-Egyptian actor Ramy Youssef lost out on an Emmy on Sunday night, but he seems to have taken the news well — and shared a now-viral video about it to boot.

The 29-year-old star was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series categories for Hulu’s “Ramy.” But after losing both to the cast and crew of the offbeat Canadian hit “Schitt’s Creek,” Youssef shared a funny video on social media showing what happens “when you lose the Emmy,” as he wrote.

In the four-second clip, a person wearing a black hazmat suit appeared at Youssef’s window waving goodbye and taking an Emmy trophy with them.

In “Ramy,” Youssef portrayed a first-generation Arab-Muslim-American who struggles to find his identity in the US.
