  • Al-Ghamdi also received a Ph.D. in economics from Colorado State University

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Ghamdi is vice chairman of Saudi-Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Committee and has been a member of the Saudi Shoura Council since his appointment in 2013. 

Previously, Al-Ghamdi served as an adviser to the office of the energy, industry and mineral resources minister for 19 years from 1993 to 2012. He also served as a part-time consultant with the minister of economy and planning. 

He was an associate professor at the administration department of King Abdul Aziz Military Academy in Riyadh from 1983 to 1993. 

Al-Ghamdi holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from King Saud University in Riyadh. He completed a master’s degree in economics at the University of Denver in the US. 

He also received a Ph.D. in economics from Colorado State University, where he worked as an associate professor for one year in 1990. 

Al-Ghamdi is a member of several national and international committees including the joint working group on petroleum cooperation with Korea, Britain, India, China and Japan, and Saudi Arabia’s petroleum strategy modernization committee.

He is a member of the Saudi team on the OPEC economic committee and a member of the Saudi delegation in ministerial meetings of OPEC.

Al-Ghamdi will lead a Shoura Council delegation on an official visit to Kuwait on Tuesday.

Conjoined twins from Pakistan arrive in Saudi Arabia for separation surgery assessment

  • They flew to Saudi Arabia under directives from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

RIYADH: Conjoined twins from Pakistan arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday for an assessment of the possibility of separation surgery.

Sufyan and Yusuf and their parents were taken from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital, which operates under the Saudi Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, where the twins’ condition will be evaluated.

They were flown to Saudi Arabia under directives from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The twins’ family expressed their gratitude to the Saudi leadership and people for the warm welcome and prompt response to their case, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, head of the medical and surgical team at the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, also thanked the Saudi leadership for the humanitarian initiative.

His team’s expertise in conjoined twin separation surgeries has helped establish the Kingdom as a global leader in the field and a beacon of hope for families seeking treatment, the SPA added.
