Saudi Shoura speaker meeting Egyptian counterpart

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Asheikh, who is on an official visit to Egypt, on Wednesday met his Egyptian counterpart Dr. Ali Abdel Aal Sayyed Ahmed.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and ways to enhance brotherly ties between the two countries.
The Egyptian official said the bilateral ties have witnessed significant boost at all levels and in different sectors.
On Tuesday, the Saudi speaker called on Egyptian President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi.
The Egyptian president praised Saudi Arabia’s support for his country at all levels.
The Saudi official’s visit aims to activate different committees to increase cooperation in different sectors.
The Saudi Embassy in Cairo on Wednesday hosted a luncheon in honor of Dr. Al-Asheikh.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s prime minister welcomed the Shoura Council speaker and his accompanying delegation, lauding the solid and historic relations between the Kingdom and Egypt.
Mostafa Madbouly expressed the aspiration to develop economic relations with Saudi Arabia, in line with the strategic relations between the two countries, “especially through promoting Saudi investments in Egypt, which would benefit from the various Egyptian investment opportunities.”
The Egyptian prime minister briefed the Shoura Council speaker on the most important features of economic reforms in Egypt and the facilitations offered to investors, affirming that the Egyptian government is currently working on solving unsettled problems facing some Saudi investors in order to help them resume their investments in Egypt.
Al-Asheikh also hailed the distinguished relations between both countries, and praised Egypt’s supportive stance to Saudi Arabia, in light of the mutual concern of the leaderships and officials from both countries to take advantage of the capabilities of the two sides and achieve the interest of both countries’ people.
Al-Asheikh lauded Egypt’s development, affirming that the comprehensive developmental vision adopted by El-Sisi “will put Egypt, within a few years, ahead of the development map in the world.”
He stressed the readiness of the Shoura Council to push bilateral relations between Egypt and the Kingdom to prospects of wider horizons.
Earlier this month, the Shoura Council speaker received the Arab Parliamentary Union’s (AMU) “Parliamentary Excellence” award in Cairo. The AMU award is a recognition of Saudi Arabia’s constructive role in the region and its support for the Arab countries in various fields under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
