July 19: Financial Times report by Kiran Stacey and Farhan Bokhari states that the leader of Pakistan’s largest political party has promised to reset fractious relations between the country’s civilian government and its powerful army should he become prime minister after next week’s election. Shehbaz Sharif, the head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, told the Financial Times his country needed to “move forward” after a year of feuding between Pakistani generals and his brother Nawaz Sharif, who was ousted as prime minister on corruption charges last year.

Two more cops on polio duty martyred in Bannu
January 10: The Express Tribune reported At least two policemen deployed for polio duty in the Teri Ram area of Bannu district were martyred while three others injured during a gunfight with unidentified armed men on Tuesday.
