ISLAMABAD: The chances of the moon being sighted on Thursday have decreased, making it likely that Eid Al-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday in Pakistan, said the country’s meteorological department.
The month of Ramadan in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE started on Thursday May 17. In order to sight the Eid or Shawwal moon, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet after Asr prayers in Karachi on Thursday.
Zonal committees in all major Pakistani cities have been encouraged to meet on Thursday to submit evidence regarding the Eid Al-Fitr moon.
