JEDDAH: There is nowhere in the old neighborhoods and traditional markets of Jeddah governorate that does not tell a story or have a memory of the holy month of Ramadan.
The streets are adorned and decorated, seating areas are prepared, and playgrounds and kiosks with traditional foods are set up.
Foods are purchased that adorn Ramadan tables, such as sambosas, soup, liver, moqalqal, mandee, wheat bread, loqaimat and other foods for which Jeddah is famous.
Family-run kiosks, with low-priced but high-quality traditional foods and goods, are spread throughout Jeddah’s various markets and along roads.
Charities become active during the holy month, organizing religious awareness lectures and distributing food baskets to the poor.
Jeddah exudes an atmosphere during Ramadan that is different from other months, with many families having iftar and suhoor in Ramadan tents in parks.
