ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday witnessed the signing of an agreement between the federal government, the provincial government of Punjab and State Life Insurance to extend a universal health coverage scheme to the province of Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory.
The Sehat Sahulat Program covers all people living below poverty i.e. earning less than $2 a day in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan. On the PM’s special directives, people with disabilities in AJK, GB, Islamabad and Punjab and members of the transgender community across Pakistan, who are registered with the National Database and Registration Authority, are also covered.
Wednesday’s MoU was signed by Secretary National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Aamir Ashraf Khwaja, CEO Punjab Health Initiatives Management Company Ali Razaq and Chairman State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan Shoaib Javed Hussain.
“MoU was signed by Secretary National Health Services Regulations & Coordination Mr. Aamir Ashraf Khwaja, CEO Punjab Health Initiatives Management Company Mr. Ali Razaq and Chairman State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan Mr. Shoaib Javed Hussain,” Khan office said on Twitter.
"The services available from Sehat Cards includes open heart surgeries, insertion of stents, management of cancer, neurosurgical procures, burn mgmt, accident management, dialysis, intensive care management, deliveries, C section & other medical / surgical procedures along with Kidney transplant.”
