July 17: Dawn report by Nasir Iqbal states that Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar of the Balochistan High Court is likely to become the chief justice of the BHC in September and she will be the first woman chief justice of any high court in the country. Justice Safdar may be elevated to the position after the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice Mohammad Noor Meskanzai on Aug 31.

Two more cops on polio duty martyred in Bannu
January 10: The Express Tribune reported At least two policemen deployed for polio duty in the Teri Ram area of Bannu district were martyred while three others injured during a gunfight with unidentified armed men on Tuesday.
