July 14: Dawn states that Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk on Friday inaugurated the Pak-China Optical Fibre Cable project that would serve as the first land-based communication link between Pakistan and China. The project that has been completed in two years will help develop the telecom sector in Gilgit-Baltistan region, besides contributing to the enhancement of security of the schemes falling under the umbrella of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Two more cops on polio duty martyred in Bannu
January 10: The Express Tribune reported At least two policemen deployed for polio duty in the Teri Ram area of Bannu district were martyred while three others injured during a gunfight with unidentified armed men on Tuesday.
