ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Saturday emphasized the need to enhance trade and investment between the United Arab Emirates and his country while holding a meeting with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the annual Sir Bani Yas Forum in Abu Dhabi.
A high-profile international gathering, the forum brings together leaders from different parts of the world to discuss pressing issues of global significance.
The Pakistani foreign minister expressed gratitude to the UAE leadership during the meeting for providing generous support for flood-affected people in his country. He also described it as a manifestation of the deep and time-tested relations between the two nations.
“Both Foreign Ministers emphasized the vital importance of Pakistan-UAE relations and agreed to further deepen mutual cooperation in all fields, including economy, trade, energy and investment,” said an official statement released by Pakistan’s foreign office in the wake of the meeting. “Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the need for increased volume of trade and investment between the two countries.”
The Pakistani FM also congratulated the UAE on successfully hosting the annual form.
The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and agreed to continue close collaboration between the states.
