KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday beat Multan Sultans by six wickets with six balls to go after Multan Sultans fell short of setting a target of 200 in the fifth match of the Pakistan Super League cricket series being held in the national stadium in Karachi, led by a display of power-hitting by Muhammad Rizwan, Sohaib Maqsood and James Vince.
Multan Sultans had lost their first match to Islamabad United on Sunday while Peshawar Zalmi was compressively beaten by Lahore Qalandars in their first match a day earlier.
On Tuesday, Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz won the toss and elected to field first, though his bowlers failed to stop their opponents from hitting across the ground.
Zalmi’s Muhammad Irfan sent Chris Lynn to the pavilion when Sultan’s total was just 6 in 1.1 overs. Both Multan Sultan skipper Muhammad Rizwan and English player James Vince provided the team a solid partnership of 82 runs before Rizwan lost his wicket to Muhammad Imran.
Vince carried on the mission and made a partnership of 71 runs with batsman Sohaib Maqsood before the latter lost his wicket to Saqib Mahmood after an individual score of 36 of 21.
Eventually, the Multan team scored 193 runs with the loss of four wickets.
