ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s largest cement producer, DG Khan Cement, has won an export order from the Philippines, the prime minister’s adviser on commerce, Abdul Razak Dawood, said on Wednesday.
“This follows on their success in China,” Dawood said in a Twitter post, referring to the company’s history of providing cement to China to be used in projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor portfolio.
Urging other exporters to follow DG Khan Cement’s example, Dawood said: “Once market reach extends, then market share will increase. Increasing geographical diversification is an important part of our strategic trade policy.”
According to its website, DG Khan Cement has a production capacity of 22,400 tons a day, or 6.72 million tons a year.
The company has three plants in Punjab — two in Dera Ghazi Khan and one in Chakwal district — and another one in Hub Lasbela district, Balochistan. All of them rely on dry process technology.
DG Khan Cement has a countrywide distribution network and is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
