Pakistan’s Navy Chief arrives in Jordan on official visit

  • Admiral Abbasi discussed defense ties and measures for collaboration between both the countries’ navies
  • Move expected to further enhance bilateral relations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi arrived in Jordan on an official visit earlier today (Friday). 
According to a statement released by Pakistan’s Naval Forces, Admiral Abbasi was received at the Royal Jordanian Naval Force Headquarters, in Aqaba, by Commander of the Royal Jordanian Naval Force, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Salman Al Naimat. 
“A ceremonial guard of honor was also presented to the naval chief on the occasion,” the statement read. 
During separate meetings with Brig. Gen. Al Naimat and Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force, Major General Yousef A Al-Hnaity, Admiral Abbasi held discussions on defense ties and for collaboration between the navies of both countries, among other matters of mutual interest. 
“The admiral emphasized upon the Pakistan Navy’s focused efforts in the fight against terrorism, including Counter Piracy Operations and Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP) initiative,” the statement added.
Brig. Gen. Al Naimat also acknowledged the significance of strong bilateral associations between the Pakistan Navy and the Royal Jordanian Navy. 
Highlighting the upcoming Multinational Maritime Exercise, named the AMAN-19, which will be hosted by the Pakistan Navy in Karachi next month, admiral Abbasi discussed other avenues through which both navies could enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of training, provision of technical manpower, and expertise.
